The National Science Foundation has recently announced the 2025 recipients for its Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP). The Graduate Research Fellowship Program aims to "help ensure the quality, vitality, and strength of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States." It recognizes emerging research talent of master's and doctoral students in science, technology, mathematics, and engineering (STEM).

Among those recognized is UCSB Bioengineering PhD student and NRT Data Driven Biology Trainee, Trent Llewellyn. Trent received Honorable Mention for his proposed research on machine learning and CryoEM in Professor Niels Volkmann's lab. Trent applies machine learning to CryoET models, which are a subset of CryoEM, to extract more information and improve visualizations of data.

Congratulations, Trent, on your impressive achievement and hard work!
