UCSB's Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships (CSEP) was "created to support scientific, educational, and workforce needs of the University of California Santa Barbara, the state of California, and our nation." The Center is home to the CSEP Mentor Leadership Program. It was established in 2022 to "support student-driven innovations and skills required to be an effective and trusted mentor." Those selected as fellows will act as guides for STEM graduate students and postdocs.

Shaylee Larson, a Bioengineering PhD candidate and T32 Trainee in the Plaxco Lab, has become the newest CSEP Mentor Leadership Fellow. She hopes to make research opportunities more accessible to undergraduate students and more manageable for graduate mentors. Her plans are to design workshops and resources that focus on mentee-driven project development to ease the mentoring process while ensuring meaningful skill advancement and career preparation for mentees.

Congratulations, Shaylee, on your selection as the newest CSEP Fellow and your hard work!
