NSF recently announced the 2024 recipients for its Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) award. Among them was 2nd year BioE PhD student and DDB Trainee Zsofia Szegletes who submitted a proposal based on her current research in the Dey Lab. Current T32 Trainee and 2nd year BMSE graduate student, Emily Gemmill (Denise Montell Lab), also won the award. Gianna Gathman (Stowers Lab), a 2nd year BioE PhD student and T32 Trainee, received the commendation of Honorable Mention for her GRFP submission.

One of the oldest graduate fellowships, the GRFP award recognizes the emerging research talent of masters and doctoral students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. A major goal of the GRFP is to "ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States" by recognizing the outstanding talent of current students through its awards. GRFP recipients often become life-long leaders in their field and contribute to lifelong scientific innovation and mentorship.

We congratulate Zsofia, Emily, and Gianna on their impressive achievements and hard work!
