UCSB is pleased to announce the Interdisciplinary Training Program in Quantitative Mechanobiology.
The NIH funded T32 Interdisciplinary Predoctoral Training Program in Quantitative Mechanobiology brings biologists, physicists, and engineers together train predoctoral researchers in mechanobiology: the relationship between molecular events and mechanical forces in living systems.
This training program supports Fellows from Biological Engineering and partnering graduate degree programs in: Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology; Mechanical Engineering; Biomolecular Science and Engineering; Physics; Chemical Engineering; and Materials. The program provides training in quantitative bioscience methods, engineering models and devices, and multi-disciplinary cross-training to develop and apply quantitative approaches to problems in mechanobiology.
Training includes both didactic and research training in mechanobiology methods and concepts. Fellows will be integrated in a strong community of interdisciplinary researchers through tailored networking, career training, and professional development activities. Trainees from diverse disciplines, backgrounds, and groups will be prepared to lead rigorous biomedical research programs and promote scientific advances in academia, industry, national labs, and technology and policy careers.
Incoming graduate students who are interested in mechanobiology research, and who are citizens or permanent residents, are invited to apply for the program which includes first year stipend, tuition and benefits funding via a Mechanobiology Fellowship.
